
Mountain Home was able to pick up a pair of baseball wins over Batesville Thursday at McClain Park.
The Junior Varsity Bombers defeated the J.V. Pioneers 8-2. Reece Ducker pitched the first three innings, and he provided plenty of offense with three RBIs. Jacob Czanstkowski pitched the last two innings.
Mountain Home also beat Batesville 4-3 in the freshman contest. Ty Hannaford pitched the first four innings for the Junior Bombers, and Maddox Carney took the mound for the final frame. Brady Lance ended up with two base hits.
On the varsity level, Norfork had a dominating day on its home field. The Panthers shut out Concord 15-0.
Izard County went to Greers Ferry and blanked West Side 14-0. Noah Everett picked up the win after pitching the first four innings, and Chase Orf took the last three. They combined to give up just two base hits. Denton Reilly led the Cougar offense with three hits and three RBIs, Zach Simmons had three hits, and Coby Everett and Landon McBride each provided two hits and drove in two runs. Izard County improves to 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in the 1A-2.
Melbourne was able to pick up a conference victory on the road. The Bearkatz went to Providence and tripled up White County Central 6-2.
Bergman had a tough road trip. The Panthers fell to Elkins by a final of 18-3.
In softball, Flippin had a long but successful road trip as they beat up on Hector 21-3. Gretchen Wegener led the Lady Bobcats by going three-for-three with a three-run home run and five RBIs, Allie Downs added a three-run shot of her own, and Hope Rackley provided a two-run double. Flippin is now 11-5 on the year.
Dora went to Mammoth Spring was edged out by a score of 7-6. The Lady Bears’ record improves to 10-3.
Melbourne was able to dominate White County Central Thursday in Providence. The Lady Bearkatz destroyed the Lady Bears 17-0.
