Woman gets 10 years in prison on new drug and weapons charges

A rural Mountain Home woman was given 10 years in prison during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Kimberly Dicks was arrested when officers went to her residence along County Road 39 in late December last year to conduct a compliance visit.

According to court records, Dicks was on probation in an earlier drug case with a waiver on file permitting warrantless searches of her person and property.

A number of items of drug paraphernalia, including smoking pipes, scales and empty plastic bags containing methamphetamine residue, were found in the residence.

One bag was reported to contain a mix of methamphetamine and fentanyl.

A 12-gauge shotgun was found under a bed in the residence, leading to a felon in possession of a firearm charge. The more serious charge of simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms filed against Dicks was dismissed by the state.

A male who shared the house with Dicks, 55-year-old Jimmy Shaw, was also arrested and faces the same charges as were filed against Dicks.

He entered a not guilty plea in late March and is free on $5,000 bond.
