An Izard County man says his small kitchen is to blame for his alleged sexual assault of a female. The incident at 75-year-old Phillip Ralph Russell’s house occurred April 13.
According to the court documents in the case, the victim and her boyfriend, who is friends with Russell, were having dinner at Russell’s house. The victim was helping clean the kitchen after dinner while her boyfriend was in another room. She alleges Russell came into the kitchen, came up behind her, put his hand up her shorts and touched her inappropriately.
The victim said she jumped away and went into another room while waiting for her boyfriend and Russell allegedly approached her again, grabbed her hand and placed it on his privates.
During an interview with investigators, Russell did not deny touching the woman but said if it did happen, it was an accident. He attributed the “accident” to his house having a “small kitchen”.
Russell is charged with a felony count of sexual assault in the second degree. Bond in the case is set at $20,000.
