
The Class 1A State Track Meet was held Monday at Mineral Springs, and several area athletes took part.
The Northwest Arkansas Classical Academy won the title on the boys’ side. Izard County finished sixth, Ozark Mountain was tied for 10th, Norfork and Mammoth Spring ended up tied for 16th, Timbo took 27th place, and Jasper finished 30th.
Among the individuals, Norfork’s Ike Barrow won the pole vault, Gunner Gleghorn of Izard County was second, and Ozark Mountain’s Walker Collins ended up fifth. Gleghorn took second place in the 300-meter hurdles. Joey Stoeckle of Ozark Mountain finished third in the 110-meter hurdles. Logan Doss of Mammoth Spring was third in the high jump, and Timbo’s Samuel Massey ended up fourth. Dillon Hall of Norfork took fourth place in the 800-meter run, and Ozark Mountain’s Aidan Fletcher finished fifth. Nate Watts of Jasper was fourth in the 3200-meter run. Izard County’s Noah Everett ended up fifth in the triple jump. Timbo’s Jeremy Hogan took fifth place in the shot put. Izard County’s team of Noah Stevenson, Noah Everett Gleghorn and Caleb Faulkner finished third in the 4×200-meter relay; and the Cougars were also repreented by Stevenson, Noah Everett, Coby Everett with a fourth place finish in the 4×100-meter relay.
Kingston took the team championship in the girls’ results. Rural Special was third, Mammoth Spring ended up fifth, Jasper was tied for seventh, Omaha was tied for 17th, Izard County ended up in a three-way tie for 19th, Norfork was tied for 26th, and Ozark Mountain took 33rd place.
Rural Special’s Abbey Linville won the 3200-meter run, and Aubrey Henderson of Jasper finished third. Jolie Rivera of Omaha won the pole vault. Jasper’s Haley Sexton won the 200-meter dash, Brinley Morgan of Rural Special was second, and Taylyn Davis of Mammoth Spring ended up fifth. Megyn Upton of Mammoth Spring took second place in the shot put, and Kylan Stevens of Rural Special finished third. Rural Special’s Bailey Perry was second in the 400-meter dash, fourth in the 100-meter hurdles and fifth in the triple jump. Davis ended up tied for third in the high jump. Linville took third place in the 800-meter run. Linville also finished third in the 1600-meter run, and Henderson was fourth. Izard County’s Gracie Wallgren ended up fourth in the 300-meter hurdles, and Tara Yocham of Ozark Mountain took fifth place. Sexton ended up fourth in the 100-meter dash. Mammoth Spring’s team of Laney Young, Chevelle Graves, Amanda Parker and Joslyn Tucker took third place in the 4×800-meter relay; and Rural Special’s Hannah Smith, Stevens, Morgan and Emily Morris finished fourth. Also for Mammoth Spring, Amanda Parker, Haylie McIntosh, Young and Adrianna Corbett were third in the 4×200-meter relay. Rural Special’s Linville, Perry, Gabbie Welch and Morgan ended up third in the 4×100-meter relay.
