MH boys finish 5th in state track meet, girls end up 8th

The Mountain Home High School track teams wrapped up their season in Hot Springs on Thursday by competing in the Class 5A State Meet.

The Bombers finished fifth on the boys’ side as Texarkana won the title. Individually for Mountain Home, Whit Lawrence won the 3200-meter run, Brody Patterson finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles, and Andrew Westphal was fourth in the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs. The team of Ky Bickford, Anderson Hodges, Bryson Hodges and Patterson ended up third in the 4×400-meter relay; and Bickford, Anderson Hodges, Bryson Hodges and Max Hough took fourth place in the 4×800-meter relay.

Mountain Home ended up eighth in the girls’ team standings with Vilonia winning the championship. For the Lady Bombers, Marcie Cudworth won the 3200-meter run, and Kylee Sabella finished fifth in the triple jump. The team of Chloe Lydon, Emma Martin, Britney Jenkins and Mackenzi Clark was second in the 4×800-meter relay.
