
The Mountain Home High School baseball team had a rough outing in Springdale on Friday. Despite Isaac House throwing five no-hit innings after a rain delay, the Bombers fell to Har-Ber 4-0.
Dawson Tabor suffered the loss by throwing two innings, striking out one batter and giving up two hits and two runs. Tabor, Logen Walker, Will Beckham and Isaac House each had a base hit for Mountain Home.
Two local baseball teams lost in the semifinals of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Lester White Field at Cooper Park in Mountain Home. Flippin fell to Mountainburg 10-3, and Yellville-Summit lost to Mansfield 12-2.
The semifinals of the Class 1A Region 2 Baseball Tournament were held at Izard County High School in Brockwell.
Viola was able to advance to the championship game. The Longhorns shut out Greers Ferry West Side by a final of 10-0.
Izard County took the other game with a 13-0 win over Mammoth Spring. Landon McBride was credited with the victory as he allowed one hit and recorded seven strikeouts in five innings. Coby Everett led the Cougars’ offense with two doubles and five RBIs; Noah Everett and Zach Simmons each provided two hits and drove in two runs; and Chase Orf, Gavin Stephens, McBride and Caleb Faulkner each added a hit and an RBI. Izard County improves to 16-4 on the season, and Mammoth Spring falls to 13-5.
Salem had a rough day in the semifinals of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at Tuckerman. The Greyhounds suffered a 20-6 loss to St. Joseph from Conway.
Harrison advanced to the title game of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament on its home field. The Goblins won a high-scoring game over Shiloh Christian 22-17.
The Mountain Home junior varsity softball team was swept in a doubleheader at Paragould.
The J.V. Lady Bombers fell in the opener to the J.V. Lady Rams 4-3 in seven innings. Lauren Loving led Mountain Home by going two-for-three, Marcie Cudworth was one-for-three with an RBI, and Tori Robb and Katelyn Hill were each one-for-three.
Mountain Home did not fare any better in the nightcap. The J.V. Lady Bombers lost to Paragould 1-0.
Two local softball teams were toppled in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Keller Park in Mountain Home. Cotter fell to Acorn 15-2, and Flippin lost to Mansfield 2-0.
Two area teams took part in the semifinals of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at Tuckerman. Salem fell to the host Lady Bulldogs 13-11, and Melbourne beat Quitman 3-1.
Mammoth Spring advanced to the title game of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Izard County High School in Brockwell as they routed Hillcrest 11-3. The Lady Bears improve to 21-4 on the year.
Valley Springs hosted the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Lady Tigers fell to Paris 3-1.
Jasper had a tough day in the semifinals of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Scranton. The Lady Pirates lost to Western Yell County 16-0.
