
Regional tournaments came to an end Saturday for baseball and softball in Arkansas.
Cotter’s softball team ended up finishing fourth in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Keller Park in Mountain Home. The Lady Warriors fell to Flippin 7-0. Mansfield won the tournament after beating Acorn 10-2.
Salem took fourth place in the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at Tuckerman. The Lady Greyhounds lost to Quitman 12-2.
Melbourne finished as the regional runner-up. The Lady Bearkatz were doubled up by Tuckerman 4-2.
Mammoth Spring came up short of winning the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Izard County High School. The Lady Bears lost the title game to Greers Ferry West Side 4-2. The Lady Bears fall to 21-5 on the season, and they’ll return to Brockwell on Thursday to meet Bradley in the Class 1A State Tournament.
Valley Springs took third place in the the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. The Lady Tigers edged out Hackett 7-6.
Jasper finished third in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at Scranton. The Lady Pirates topped Mulberry by a final of 8-3.
Flippin’s baseball team ended up third in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Lester White Field at Cooper Park in Mountain Home. The Bobcats defeated Yellville-Summit 2-0 as Brycen Benedict and Philip Pasthing combined to throw the shutout. Flippin will head to Carlisle on Thursday to face Parkers Chapel in the Class 2A State Tournament.
Viola was crowned the champions of the Class 1A Region 2 Baseball Tournament at Izard County High School in Brockwell. The Longhorns beat the host Cougars 3-0.
Mammoth Spring finished fourth in the tournament after falling to Greers Ferry West Side 12-9. The Bears drop to 13-6 on the year, and they’ll take on Ouachita Thursday in the Class 1A State Tournament.
Salem was able to finish third in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament. The Greyhounds doubled up Bigelow 8-4.
Harrison came up short of winning the title of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament on its home field. The Goblins lost to Farmington 9-3.
