
An earthquake has been reported in Searcy County. The quake, which registered 2.4 on the Richter scale, was centered 1.9 miles north, northwest of St. Joe which is 20 miles southeast of Harrison or 31 miles southwest of Mountain Home. The earthquake happened at 8:40 Tuesday night.
Normally, earthquakes below magnitude 3 are rarely felt. However, smaller quakes from magnitude 2.0 and higher can be felt by humans if the quake is shallow and if they are very close to its epicenter and not disturbed by ambient factors such as noise, wind, vibrations of engines, traffic, etc.
