
The week of May 16-22 is National EMS Week, and Baxter Regional Medical Center is honoring its emergency responders.
Gerald Cantrell, Director of Baxter Regional’s paramedic services, describes what the hospital usually does during EMS Week.

This year, the hospital is providing meals for its EMS crews and providing those employees with a gift.
Cantrell says Baxter Regional wishes to recognize all of the area’s EMS personnel.

This year’s EMS Week theme is “This is EMS: Caring for Our Communities.” Each day of the week also has its own theme focusing on safety issues like EMS awareness for children or CPR training.
Cantrell says that because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Baxter Regional will not be participating in any of the daily themes this year.

The pandemic has also led to changes in the EMS field this past year, Cantrell says.
