
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) – Police in the southwestern Missouri city of Springfield are investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was discovered during a
welfare check. Police say in a news release that officers were sent around 12:30 a.m. Monday to a home to check on the well-being of a person there. Arriving officers found 41-year-old James Kenney, of Springfield, dead on the property.
Police say he had suffered gunshot wounds. Police say they do not have a suspect in the killing. Kenney’s death marked Springfield’s ninth homicide of the year.
