MH School Board faces busy agenda

The Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education faces a busy agenda in May’s monthly meeting, including the election of board officers and naming two district award winners.

The meeting begins this evening at 6 at the Central Office building on Rodeo Drive.

A new board president, vice president and secretary will be elected, with board members being appointed to committees for the 2021-2022 school year.

Mountain Home Superintendent Dr. Jake Long will announce the winners of the Richard Padget Award and Teacher of the Year honors at the meeting.

In action items, the board will be asked to approve the purchase of school-owned band instruments at a cost of $21,000, as well as $18,000 to cover the cost of having the band’s school-owned instruments inspected, professionally cleaned and chemically sanitized. Repairs will be done to the instruments as needed. The school-owned instruments are cleaned and repaired each year to improve the instrument’s lifespan.

The board will also hear a request to purchase supplies and equipment for the school’s football program – seventh through 12th grades – at a cost of $37,051. The proposed vendor will bill the district for half of the items in the 2020-2021 fiscal year, and the remainder in the 2021-2022 fiscal year.

Related Party Disclosures, the Loss of Learning Daily Rate, approval to purchase bulk supplemental school supplies will also be considered by the board.

Academic, financial, enrollment and facility projects reports will be presented, as well as latest superintendent’s update and an executive session for personnel.
