The Mountain Home High School softball program will be under new leadership when the 2021 season begins in just over nine months. Lady Bombers’ head coach Shelby Anderson submitted her resignation to the Mountain Home School Board during their meeting on Thursday and has accepted the same position at Clinton High School in Oklahoma.

Anderson says family went into her decision to relocate out-of-state.

Anderson has been employed in the Mountain Home School District for nearly 4 1/2 years. She was named the head softball coach in June 2018. During two full seasons and another cut short due to the coronavirus, her teams went 41-21. The 2021 campaign ended on Saturday in the semifinals of the Class 5A State Tournament.

Anderson is also known for her time as a player in Mountain Home. As a pitcher, she was part of state championship teams in 2008 and 2010. Anderson says she is grateful for the opportunity to coach for the team she excelled in as a player.

Anderson will have a few months to prepare for the Clinton’s next season. Fast pitch softball is a fall sport in Oklahoma. The Lady Reds will start practice in the second week of July, and the season opener will come in the first week of August.
