Summertime music and events return to downtown Mountain Home beginning this weekend.
The Summer on the Square Festival will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday on the courthouse square. The event includes food vendors, kids activities, craft booths and more.
The Baxter Summer Concert Series also kicks off this weekend, with Heath Sanders, Lily Rose and Jackson Dean taking the Farmers and Merchants Bank Stage at Hickory Park Saturday night. Admission to the show is free, with attendees encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
Park gates will open at 6 Saturday night with live music beginning at 7.
The Summer Concert Series is Mountain Home’s marquee outdoor music program, featuring regional and national acts performing for free at Hickory Park.
Three more dates make up the Summer Concert Series schedule. Elvie Shane and Larry Fleet will co-headline a show the night of June 12, and The Steel Woods will perform on July 17. Red Light Runner will close out the 2021 schedule on Aug. 14.
Sponsorships for the 2021 season include Baxter Healthcare as the series’ namesake sponsor. The Mountain Home Advertising and Promotion Commission will also help support the series for the second year in a row, and the Mountain Home Rotary Club will once again coordinate the events’ food and craft vendors.
Other sponsors announced for 2021 include Buncle’s Brick Oven & Brews, Perfect Catch Marine of Mountain Home and Bull Shoals, ASC Warranty, Tracy Ferry Marina and Quality Inn and Suites.
The Friday Night Live music series will debut in June and will play six dates at Hickory Park this summer.
The series will welcome local bands to the stage on the evenings of June 4, June 18, July 9, July 23, Aug. 13 and Aug. 27. Those shows will also be free to the public, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs.
The June 4 date features Patient Eyes and friends as headliners with the Mellow Mountain Band being special guests. The June 18 date will feature The Melodikats with The Natural Disasters as the opening act. The Kattie Laney Project is booked for the July 9 show, and Burnin’ Daylight and Rio will perform on July 23.
The Aug. 13 show will feature The Nick Reed Band and will have a later-than-usual start time so as not to conflict with the Mountain Home High School’s Bomberfest event. No performers have been announced for the Aug. 27 date yet.
The Friday Night Live series is presented by the Mountain Home Area Chamber of Commerce and the Mountain Home Advertising and Promotion Commission, in partnership with Huber Media Co.
