A 27-year-old Yellville man appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court last week facing the revocation of a 36-month suspended sentence handed down in 2019.

Houston Dale Casey admitted to violating the terms and conditions of his probation. The probation was revoked and Casey was given a three-year prison sentence.

According to the probable cause affidavit in the 2019 case, Casey was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped by a Mountain Home police officer on Oct. 13, 2019 on a minor traffic infraction.

The officer reported detecting the “strong odor of marijuana” coming from inside the vehicle.

During the stop, Casey was searched and found to be in possession of an eyeglass case containing two used syringes and a glass-smoking pipe used to ingest methamphetamine.

A black plastic box with a white crystal-like substance was also located.

Casey pled guilty to the drug-related charges and was put on probation for 36 months.

A petition to revoke the probation was filed in late May 2020 and an amended petition followed five months later.

The petition listed a number of violations of the terms and conditions of his probation, including not participating in a chemical dependency program, evading supervision, failing to report as required, and never making payments on almost $2,900 in court-ordered fines.

Casey was also accused of breaking the law in several ways in October 2020, including possessing drugs, tampering with physical evidence and criminal use of a prohibited weapon.
