The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has announced the auction of two Mountain Home motels will not take place later this month as previously planned.

In a statement issued Thursday, Sheriff John Montgomery says the June 25 sale of the Mountain Home Motel and the Spring Valley Kitchenettes has now been canceled indefinitely. Both properties had been scheduled to be auctioned off to help satisfy a civil judgment against owner Brian Keith Ferguson.

The Mountain Home Motel is located at 411 Main Street and was classified as a nuisance property by the city in 2019. In May of 2020, the court ordered the property have a list of repairs completed in two weeks, or it would be razed. Ferguson was able to have the repairs completed in a timely matter, thus halting the condemnation process.

The Spring Valley Kitchenettes is located at 548 U.S. Highway 62B. It has been the location of multiple drug arrests in recent years.

The on-again, off-again sale of the two motels began earlier this year with an announced auction date of April 16. That sale was canceled on April 28 following a request from the plaintiff’s lawyer. In late May, the sale was rescheduled for June 25 on the steps of the Baxter County Courthouse.
