
The Arkansas medical marijuana market recently surpassed 50,000 pounds in overall sales, reaching the benchmark roughly two years after the state’s first marijuana dispensaries opened to the public.
Figures released by the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission through June 14 indicate patients have spent $338.5 million to purchase 50,085 pounds of cannabis. Through the end of May, patients had purchased 48,914 pounds of marijuana and the state estimated then that the market would cross the 50,000-pound mark in sales sometime in June.
There are currently 33 dispensaries in operation throughout Arkansas, including three in north central Arkansas.
Through June 14, Plant Family Therapeutics in Mountain Home has sold 2,746.62 pounds since it opened February 2019. Fiddler’s Green in Mountain View has sold 2,286.86 pounds since opening in July 2019. Spring River Dispensary in Hardy opened in January and has sold 276.29 pounds.
Five more dispensaries are working towards openeing their doors. Dispensaries yet to open include 3J Investments in Lamar, Natural Root Wellness in Fayetteville, Pine Bluff Agricueticals, Missco Cannabis in Jonesboro and Natures Herbs and Wellness in Pine Bluff. Pine Bluff Agricueticals will open for business later month.
The Arkansas Department of Health reports 77,673 active medical marijuana patient cards.
