
A 7-year-old North Little Rock boy died Sunday after a swimming accident on the Little Red River Saturday in Stone County.
Jarret R. Allen died at Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. According to the Stone County Leader, Allen was swimming with his parents when he was swept into an 18-inch culvert at the Lydalisk Bridge and became lodged in some brush. Bystanders were able to pull him from the culvert, but not until the boy had been under water for some time.
According to Stone County Chief Deputy Dammon McGilton, Deputy Natasha Condrey was the first deputy on the scene and took over CPR when she arrived. A med flight helicopter arrived and assisted with resuscitation efforts, then the boy was transferred by ambulance to Stone County Medical Center and transferred by med flight to Children’s.
The boy’s parents were staying at the Meadowcreek Lodge while on vacation.
