Two Fulton County men have been arrested following an altercation in the middle of a highway earlier this month. Charged in the case are 41-year-old Jeremy Holmes and his son, 24-year-old Alonzo Holmes, both of Mammoth Spring.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the victim told law enforcement he was traveling on Weatherstone Drive south of Mammoth Spring June 13 when Jeremy Holmes began pursuing him. The victim said after turning onto U.S. Highway 63, Holmes passed him and a passenger threw a water bottle at his vehicle.

Holmes then reportedly pulled in front of the victim and slammed on his brakes causing the victim to stop in the highway. Jeremy Holmes then reportedly exited his vehicle and began cursing at the victim and Alonzo Holmes allegedly pointed a pistol at the victim’s car. The victim pulled around the stopped vehicle to get away and Alonzo Holmes is reported to have fired one shot at the vehicle.

No injuries were reported to any occupants of the vehicle which included the victim, his daughter and two-year-old granddaughter.

Law enforcement found a shell casing at the scene where the incident occurred.

Both men are charged with a felony count of aggravated assault. Jeremy Holmes is also charged with being a habitual offender due to his criminal history which includes four or more felony convictions.
