The organizers of the Red, White and Blue Festival are hoping rain clouds do not wash out the event’s signature fireworks display Saturday evening.Forecasts issued earlier in the week had rain clouds rolling into the Mountain Home area Friday afternoon and sticking around for most of the weekend. Revised forecasts now call for a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday afternoon and a 50 percent chance of showers Saturday evening.

Popular local acts The Kattie Laney Project and The Melodikats are scheduled to perform outdoors on campus Saturday night, and the festival’s fireworks display is scheduled to close out the event later that evening beginning about 9:30.

Joel Bratton, the festival’s event coordinator, says a little rain won’t derail the area’s largest fireworks display.

In the event of rain, Bratton says organizers will have to make a call Saturday night about 7:30 whether they wish to proceed with the fireworks or not.

Sunday night could be used as a fallback date in the event the display gets rained out Saturday night.

Bratton said that any changes due to storms or rainfall will be posted on the festival’s Facebook page.
