
Two area men were injured Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident in Howell County. Forty-one-year-old Jeremy Burkepile and 43-year-old Gary Burkepile, both of West Plains, were transported by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, vehicles driven by 25-year-old Brianna Walters of West Plains and 44-year-old James McLeod of Trussville, Alabama, were stopped in traffic nearly a mile west of South Fork on U.S. Highway 160. The vehicle driven by Gary Burkepile and occupied by Jeremy Burkepile reportedly struck Walters’ vehicle in the rear, causing it to hit McLeod’s vehicle.
Jeremy Burkepile’s injuries were listed as serious, and Gary Burkepile had moderate injuries. Both were reportedly not wearing seat belts. Walters and McLeod were not injured.
Gary Burkepile’s vehicle was totaled in the 12:55 p.m. accident. Walters’ vehicle had extensive damage, and McLeod’s vehicle had moderate damage.
