The Mountain Home School Board Thursday night approved initial steps in what could lead to a renovation or expansion of the Mountain High School campus.

The board approved a contract with Modus Studios to serve as an architect and Gregory Company as the construction manager of the potential building project.

Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says the district cannot commence any plans for a project without the hires.

When originally constructed, Mountain Home High School was built with an open-air concept in most of its hallways and featured an open-air courtyard for students. During the renovation of the campus and construction of the new gymnasium, the structure was placed under one roof.

Long says that portion of the campus needs updates in several ways.
