A piece of property off of Glenbriar Drive has been rezoned from Residential R-1 to Commercial C-3 at the request of the property’s owner.

The Mountain Home City Council Thursday night approved the rezoning request for the undeveloped property, which is located between a residence at 1559 Glenbriar Drive and the Mountain Station apartments.

The C-3 zoning designation allows for a business with operating hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. The lot, which is not visible from Glenbriar Drive, is currently being used as a flower garden and the property owner hopes to sell the flowers on site.

The house located adjacent to the flower garden will remain zoned as R-1, which allows single-family residences.

Also at the meeting, Mayor Hillrey Adams announced that the City Council would hold a special meeting Thursday to review and approve paperwork associated with the city’s upcoming bond sale. Those bonds will be used to renovate the city’s parks and build a community center and aquatic facility.
