ST. LOUIS (AP) – St. Louis police say a man found shot to death on a sidewalk was killed by the man he was trying to rob.
The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. Sunday, near downtown. Officers called to the scene found a man on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to the torso. That man has not been identified.
Police say a preliminary investigation indicated that the man was killed while trying to rob another man, who then fled and has not been located. Officers recovered two guns at the scene.
Another fatal shooting occurred earlier Sunday in St. Louis when a man was killed inside his car on the city’s north side. The car was found resting against a building. Police say a suspect was seen running away carrying an assault-style rifle.
