Law enforcement responding to a report of a two-vehicle accident Sunday evening on State Highway 5 North ended up arresting a Mountain Home woman for aggravated assault charges.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, 52-year-old Diane M. Coddington faces charges of aggravated assault, as well as obstructing governmental operations, refusal to submit to arrest and defective equipment. She was released on a $5,000 bond later that evening.

Mountain Home Police received a report of a two-vehicle accident near the intersection of Highway 5 and Dyer Street shortly after 6 p.m. Officers arrived to find Coddington, her daughter and a white pickup truck. Coddington alleged another vehicle intentionally rammed her vehicle near the intersection of Highway 5 and Glenstone Drive.

Neither woman reported any injuries and Coddington began to complain of a panic attack. An ambulance was called, with Coddington refusing transport to Baxter Regional Medical Center for treatment. Coddington also allegedly then refused to provide a written statement about the incident.

While the investigation was ongoing, Coddington allegedly became agitated and refused to sit on the sidewalk as instructed. The affidavit states officers attempted to detain Coddington, who continually tried to pull away as she was placed in handcuffs.

Deputies from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office joined the investigation and located the other vehicle on Ashington Drive. The driver told authorities that Coddington had intentionally struck her vehicle, with a passenger providing corroborating statements.

Two independent witnesses were located as well. One witness reported they were in their residence when they heard a car engine revving up and saw a gray SUV backing away from the white pickup, with the pickup running into the SUV twice. The second witness reported they saw the white truck strike the SUV.
