Tyler Cole Hutton

A 28-year-old Midway man, who screamed obscenities and fought with deputies at the court complex on May 20, threw another similar tantrum Monday.

After the incident in May, new felony charges of second-degree battery on a police officer, impairing the operation of a vital public facility and misdemeanor disorderly conduct charges were filed against Tyler Cole Hutton.

Hutton will likely face the same type charges after his latest outburst.

On Monday, the court’s bailiff, sheriff’s deputy David Estes, heard a commotion in the area behind the courtroom where jail inmates are held prior to making their appearances before the court.

He rushed out the door, followed closely by other law enforcement officials in court to testify in various cases. Hutton had attacked a deputy in the area where inmates are held prior to entering the courtroom.

As with the May incident, Hutton seemed to be calm until “he just snapped,” according to a deputy with the Baxter County Sheriff’s office.

Hutton began to fight and spew obscenities until he was subdued and returned to jail.

At the time of the incident in May, Hutton was being brought to the court complex for an appearance in an open criminal case in which he is charged with domestic battery.

In the May incident, according to a report of the incident, Hutton first spoke to his attorney in the holding area behind the courtroom.

After the attorney walked away, Hutton was reported to have begun “yelling obscenities and causing a general disturbance,” according to an incident report.

In the original criminal case that was pending before the court at the time of both incidents, Hutton is charged with domestic battery for attacking a female acquaintance. The couple is reported to have a 10-year-old child together.

When he returned to court Monday, it was to face charges in the existing domestic battery case, plus charges stemming from the fight he had with law enforcement officers on May 20.

The charges included battery on a police officer, impairing the operation of a vital public facility and disorderly conduct.

The newest domestic battery charge resulted in the filing of a petition on Jan. 7 seeking to revoke his 72-month probation in a 2018 case, also involving a fight with a girlfriend.

On Jan. 5, Hutton was reported to have been visiting with the victim in the newest case and the 10-year-old child they have together when an argument broke out.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Hutton and the victim were in her bedroom when problems developed.

During the argument, Hutton is alleged to have choked the victim. She was able to free herself briefly, but Hutton reportedly grabbed her hair, threw her back on the bed and began to choke her again.

At one point, the couple’s child entered the room and Hutton was said to have stopped the attack. The victim was able to run into the kitchen and grab a knife.

Hutton barricaded himself in the bedroom.

There were three other children in the house at the time, according to the incident report.

The victim is alleged to have gotten into an altercation with one of the other children.

The probable cause affidavit does not provide information on what sparked the encounter or what relationship, if any, existed between the three other children at the residence.

At that point, Hutton was reported to have come out of the bedroom and hit the victim with a metal baseball bat.

In the 2018 case, Hutton was accused of choking the victim and shoving his fingers into her eyes.

Hutton was a no show for a circuit court appearance in his new case on Jan. 28. He was apprehended and surrendered to the county jail by his bail bond company Apr. 19.

Hutton is also reported to have been in trouble for domestic violence in California, according to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office.

His current bond is set at $25,000, according to the on the county jail inmate log.
