Monday marks the start of Arkansas high school athletics for the 2021-2022 school year, and it begins with Mountain Home hosting one of the premier golf events in the state. The Ultimate Auto Group High School Invitational starts its two-day run at Big Creek Golf and Country Club.
Dell Leonard returns to the program for another stint as the head coach. He is inheriting a Lady Bomber club that won a conference title finished fourth in the state last year, and they will be led in part by a player he coached three years ago.

Mountain Home’s boys ended up third in the 5A-West and fifth in the state last season. Leonard also coached a number of Bomber senior players on the boys’ side three years ago, and he’s taking over a team with experience.

The Ultimate Auto Group High School Invitational is normally the opener not just for high school golf, but also for athletics for each school year. Leonard says it is one of the most popular events in the state.
