The Izard County boys and the Highland girls picked up victories Thursday in a five-team golf match at the Course on Turkey Mountain.
The Cougars shot a team total of 126, 10 shots ahead of Highland. Flippin, Viola and Salem all shot 161 to tie for third place.
Izard County had the top three individual scores. Denton Reiley was medalist with a 40 and Landon McBride and Elijah Wilkes each fired a 43. Flippin was led by Cody Downs with a 46, Viola was paced by Braden Williams with a 51 and Salem’s top golfer was Hank Guiltner with a 51.
On the girl’s side, Highland finished with a 133, 26 strokes better than second place Salem. Flippin was third and Viola fourth.
Highland’s Tressie Carter was medalist with a 42. Madelyn Lindsey led Flippin with a 47. Viola’s AJ McCandlis shot a 48. Salem’s top golfers were Morgan Johnson and Chloe Taylor with a 51.
