
Students across the Twin Lakes Area began returning school Monday.
Schools officially opened Monday in Norfork, Cotter, Flippin, Yellville-Summit, Izard County, Salem and Searcy County’s Marshall High School.
Ozark Mountain and Viola open Tuesday, while Mountain Home, Mountain Home Christian Academy and Calico Rock begin classes Wednesday.
At Yellville-Summit Public Schools, Superintendent Wes Henderson says the first day has been smooth with an enrollment up approximately 50 students over last year.

Cotter welcomed 754 students Monday, up 10 students from the first day of class last year.
At Norfork, Superintendent Chip Layne said the district counted 459 students Monday, an increase of eight students compared to the first day of school last year. The district has added almost 40 additional students over the past two years. Last year’s 451 students on the first day was an increase of about 30 students compared to 2019.
Layne says the district has had a good first day back despite some technological hiccups.

Salem Superintendent Wayne Guiltner said his staff counted 845 students Monday, an increase of 10 students over last year’s first day back.
Fred Walker, superintendent for Izard County, said his district had close to 600 students Monday, an increase of 25 students compared to last year’s numbers.
