MHPS opens 2021-22 school year with ‘great’ day


Officials at the Mountain Home Kindergarten welcomed the Class of 2034 Wednesday morning on the opening day of school in the Mountain Home Public School District.

The Mountain Home Public School District welcomed students back to its six campuses Wednesday with a celebration of the new school year.

Superintendent Dr. Jake Long says things went smoothly throughout the district for Day 1.

Students are dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic for the second consecutive year, but Dr. Long says the combination of previously dealing with the pandemic and a big effort from teachers to acclimate students, made the day a success.

Transportation is always one of the biggest issues heading into a new school year and Dr. Long provides an update how the school is faring.

The district opened the school year with an enrollment of 3,934 students.
