A senior at Melbourne High School recently made history at the American Quarter Horse Youth Association World Show in Oklahoma City. Lanie Cornelius of Mount Pleasant became the first to ever capture the world championship and the reserve world championship in the Level 3 stake race.

Cornelius won the title after riding a horse named “Howie.” She rode “Bubbles” to also take second place in the event.

In addition, Cornelius placed in the top ten in three other classes with different horses.
