A Baxter County man, 41-year-old Christian Gabriel Bolding, has been charged with a felony count of arson following a fire Wednesday evening at a residence along County Road 645.According to a Baxter County Sheriff’s Office report, 911 was alerted to the fire when Bolding’s sister called about 7:30, saying her brother came to her home and advised he had caught his house on fire.Officers arrived to find the home fully engulfed.

When officers went to the area where Bolding was reportedly last seen, the Mountain Home man approached them. He reportedly told the officers he had gone into his residence “to let off some steam by shooting fireworks.” Bolding said one of the fuses landed in the trash can catching the container and leaves on fire. He said there was nothing he could do to extinguish the blaze, because it spread too quickly.

When asked why he did not notify 911 of the fire, Bolding told law enforcement he did not have a phone.

Bolding’s sister told officers her brother said he set his home on fire because he could not get the people inside to leave him alone. She said her brother had made comments previously saying he was going to set fire to his home, her residence and a neighbor’s.

The woman told officers the home was in probate, following the death of a family member. She said her brother had purchased a new vehicle and set it on fire because he could not get imaginary people out of it.

She said earlier Bolding had been walking with a kitchen knife and trying to stab imaginary people because they were attacking him and would not leave him alone.

Bolding’s bond is set at $50,000.
