
Basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule, as the Mountain Home High School teams begin their run in the Cabot Christmas Classic. The Bombers and Lady Bombers start by meeting the host Panthers.
Both Mountain Home teams are 1-4 on the season. The Bombers and Lady Bombers wrapped up the Branson Battle at the Border on Saturday with a pair of losses to the host Pirates.
The girls’ game tips off at 5:30 at Panther Arena followed by the boys’ contest. Both games will be on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com and the Bomber Sports Network channel on YouTube.
Three area boys’ teams will be in action at the Anstaff Bank Green Forest Holiday Tournament in Green Forest. Bergman begins against Lincoln in the first semifinal at 4. Yellville-Summit will play for fifth place at 5:30 against Green Forest’s junior varsity team. The second semifinal will be a battle between Tigers, as Lead Hill goes up against Green Forest at 7.
The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament will begin its semifinal round on Thursday. The host Junior Lady Cougars face Highland at 4, Izard County’s junior boys take on Cave City at 5:15, the Melbourne senior girls will play Rural Special at 6:30, and Izard County’s senior boys will be paired with Melbourne at 7:45.
Elsewhere on the high school level, Norfork hosts Shirley, Rural Special entertains Nemo Vista, and Valley Springs’ girls are set to begin the Benton Basketball Classic.
Four of Mountain Home’s junior high squads will be in front of the home crowd. as they meet Marion. The eighth grade girls’ game tips off at 4 followed by the eighth grade boys and both freshman contests.
In other junior high basketball, Yellville-Summit is home against Viola, and Ozark Mountain hosts Bergman on the Bruno-Pyatt campus in Eros.
