
The Izard County Invitational Basketball Tournament wrapped up its semifinal round on Friday. On the senior high level, Calico Rock’s boys were eliminated by Cave City 60-55, and the Salem girls defeated Highland 51-42. In the junior high games, Salem’s girls fell to Melbourne 49-35, and Melbourne also took the boys’ contest 27-25 over Highland.
Gainesville’s girls suffered a loss in the consolation semifinals of the Norwood Lady Pirate Invitational Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs lost to the host team 53-37.
The Dora boys finished in sixth place in the Mansfield Invitational Boys Basketball Tournament. The Falcons fell to Plato by a final of 65-34.
Flippin’s boys were able to get a conference win on the road. The Bobcats went to Centerton and topped Life Way Christian 66-49.
The Yellville-Summit High School teams had mixed results, as they hosted Haas Hall-Bentonville. The Lady Panthers destroyed the Lady Huskies 72-7. Yellville-Summit did not fare as well on the boys’ side, as they were edged out by Haas Hall-Bentonville 43-40.
Mammoth Spring’s high school teams came away with a split at Marked Tree. The Lady Bears routed the Lady Indians 87-24. The boys’ game had a different result, as Mammoth Spring fell to Marked Tree 74-45.
The Bergman boys wrapped up the school week with a dominating performance. The Panthers beat up on Alpena with a 78-38 decision.
