
The Billy Ply Classic began its boys’ portion Friday in Flippin with losses by three area schools. Cotter fell to Greene County Tech 59-26, Norfork lost to England 34-29, and Flippin was beaten by Rivercrest 49-39.
Yellville-Summit’s girls ended up having a successful road trip. The Lady Panthers went across the state line and defeated Gainesville 55-37.
Ozark Mountain had mixed results playing at Kingston. The Bears took the boys’ game over the Yellowjackets 51-37. Ozark Mountain’s girls did not fare as well, as they fell to Kingston 63-46.
The Melbourne High School teams came away with a split at Tuckerman. The Lady Bearkatz topped the Lady Bulldogs 55-41. The boys’ game had a different result with Melbourne losing to Tuckerman 71-65.
Marshall was swept at home, as St. Joseph came in from Conway. The Lady Bobcats lost to the Lady Bulldogs 66-54. The night wasn’t any better for Marshall’s boys, as they fell to St. Joseph 54-23.
The Timbo boys had a rough night in the Pangburn Classic. In a battle between Tigers, Timbo lost to the host school by a final of 65-50.
Lead Hill’s high school teams ended up splitting with Jasper at home.
The Tigers won the boys’ game 64-53 over the Pirates. Cody Paul led Lead Hill with 21 points, Will Mancinelli scored 13, Dustin Turner had 11, and Jayce Williams added 10 points. For Jasper, Hutson Davidson finished with 21 points, Calvin Smith ended up with 13, and Hudson Lewis chipped in 11.
The night was not as successful for Lead Hill’s girls. The Lady Tigers fell to Jasper 53-24.
Valley Springs was able to pick up a sweep at Lincoln. The Lady Tigers invoked the mercy rule, as they routed the Lady Wolves 74-26. The Valley Springs boys followed with an 82-72 win over Lincoln.
