A Baxter County man who has been arrested multiple times is back behind bars after allegedly stabbing a dog and threatening to kill its owner. Baxter County deputies arrested 40-year-old Mark Allen Hansen of rural Mountain Home late Sunday night after responding to an incident at 133 Campbell Place off County Road 27 just north of Mountain Home.

According to the report from the sheriff’s office, the male victim had called 911 saying he was being chased by Hansen who was armed with a knife and threatening to kill him. The man told dispatchers Hansen had already stabbed his dog.

The victim told deputies he was staying in a camper trailer in the back yard of the property and had installed a motion light because some of his belongings had gone missing. He told deputies Hansen was upset about the light and came out of the house and told him he was going to kill him and brandished a knife. When Hansen started running towards the victim, the man’s bulldog started towards Hansen, who then allegedly stabbed the dog.

The victim told law enforcement Hansen had made comments recently about killing people with a hammer and had been talking to people who were not there.

Hansen denied threatening to kill the victim but did admit to stabbing the dog, because he said it charged at him.

Deputies recovered the knife Hansen said he used to stab the dog. It was on a table in the residence and covered with blood.

Hansen is charged with three felonies: aggravated assault, terroristic threatening and cruelty to animals. His bond is set at $25,000.
