Several basketball teams set for tournament play Monday

High school basketball makes up the local Monday schedule, as several teams will be in tournament play.

The North Arkansas College Invitational Tournament gets underway at the Pioneer Pavilion in Harrison. On the girls’ side, Cotter and Calico Rock tip off at 10, Jasper meets Shirley at 12:40, Ozark Mountain faces Alpena at 3:20, Deer takes on Kingston at 6, and Marshall plays Omaha at 8:40. On the boys’ bracket, Norfork will be paired with Shirley at 11:20, Valley Springs faces Alpena at 2, Deer meets Clinton at 4:40, and Omaha takes on Kingston at 7:20.

Yellville-Summit will begin hosting the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home/Arvest Bank Winter Jam. Bakersfield plays a doubleheader against Couch starting with the girls at 4, and Yellville-Summit will have back-to-back games with Lead Hill at 6:30.

Four area boys’ teams will compete in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. Dora plays top-seeded Thayer at 9, Viola will be matched up with Summersville at 10:30, Lutie meets Norwood at 3, and Gainesville faces Salem, Missouri, at 6.

Two area schools will take part in the Mountain Grove Holiday Girls Basketball Tournament. Dora takes on Bradleyville at noon, and Gainesville plays Mansfield at 7:30.

Three area teams will be in Jonesboro as the NEA Invitational Basketball Tournament continues at First National Bank Arena on the campus of Arkansas State University. In girls’ action, Salem goes up against Greene County Tech at 1:30, and Melbourne meets Brookland at 6. Salem’s boys face Searcy at 7:30.

Harrison’s boys will begin hosting the Lendel Thomas Classic at Goblin Arena. Bergman takes on Springfield Hillcrest at 5, and Harrison plays Earle at 7.
