
LITTLE ROCK — At his weekly news briefing Thursday, Gov. Asa Hutchinson discussed in-class instruction and new COVID guidelines from the CDC, in addition to the increasing case numbers and rapid at-home tests.
He said that schools should do what each district thinks is important for the safety of the school environment. He said masks are an option depending on what the district decides.
CDC GUIDELINES
Gov. Hutchinson noted Arkansas has adopted the new CDC guidelines that determine the best course of action for those with COVID or exposed to COVID.
Regardless of vaccination status, those testing positive for COVID should
– Stay at home for five days;
– Those with no symptoms, or with symptoms resolving after five days can leave their house; and
– Continue to wear a mask around others for five additional days;
Those exposed to someone with COVID and who have completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine over six months ago and are not boosted or completed the primary series of J&J over two months ago and are not boosted or are unvaccinated should
– Stay home for five days. After that, continue to wear a mask around others for five additional days;
– Those unable to quarantine must wear a mask for 10 days;
– Test on day five, if possible; and
– Those developing symptoms should get a test and stay home.
Those exposed to someone with COVID and who have been boosted or completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the last six months of completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the last two months: should
– Wear a mask around others for 10 days;
– Test on day five, if possible; and
– Those developing symptoms should get a test and stay home.
“This is a significant change that will allow our workers to get back to work quicker, with the right precautions, and allow us to do what is necessary in society,” Gov. Hutchinson said.
