The evening began with the Lady Bombers falling to the Lady Eagles 35-23. Defensively, Mountain Home held one of the state’s top teams in check, but they didn’t have the offense to match it. The Lady Bombers were held to one field goal and one free throw in the first half. Mountain Home’s shooting woes continued in the third quarter. The Lady Bombers did outscore Vilonia 13-6 in the final period, but they had too far to go, as the Lady Eagles won by a dozen.

Annie Norcross led Mountain Home with 11 points. Madeleine Tipton scored 20 for Vilonia.

The Lady Bombers fall to 3-12 on the season and 0-2 in the 5A-West. The Lady Eagles improve to 12-2 and 2-0.

Mountain Home’s boys did not fare any better, as they lost to Vilonia 53-36. Most of the first half was a back-and-forth battle with nine lead changes and one tie. The Eagles were up six at the break. Vilonia’s Austin Myers just took over from there, scoring all but four of the Eagles’ 29 second half points, and the Bombers were unable to come up with an answer.

Mountain Home was led by Luke Proctor with 14 points. Myers had 32 for Vilonia.

The Bombers drop to 2-12 on the year and 0-2 in the league. The Eagles are now 8-7 and 2-0.

Both Mountain Home teams will make the first of two straight road trips, as they head to Van Buren on Friday.

In other 5A-West boys’ action, Donyae May banked in a three at the buzzer to push Russellville past Greenbrier 50-49, and Greenwood edged out Van Buren 47-44. On the girls’ side, Siloam Springs defeated Alma 53-36, and Greenwood pounded Van Buren 49-23.
