Thursday basketball results include MH winning 2 of 3 junior high games in Jonesboro

Mountain Home picked up two wins in three junior high basketball games against Douglas MacArthur Thursday at Jonesboro.
The Junior Lady Bombers doubled up the Lady Cyclones 52-26 in the freshman girls’ game. Jayla Yonkers led Mountain Home with 13 points, and Whitten Coleman added 12. The Junior Lady Bombers improve to 14-3 on the season and 5-1 in the Northeast Arkansas Conference.
Mountain Home did not fare as well in the freshman boys’ contest falling to MacArthur 61-37. The Junior Bombers were led by Rhett Gilbert with 12 points. Mountain Home drops to 11-7 on the year.
The night began with Mountain Home’s eighth grade girls’ defeating MacArthur 27-10. Kelsey Blackwell was the Eighth Grade Lady Bombers’ top scorer with 16 points.
All three Mountain Home teams will travel to Paragould on Monday to face Greene County Tech.

On the high school level, Norfork came up just short in the Nixa Girls Invitational Tournament. The game needed overtime, with the Lady Panthers getting edged out by West Plains 54-52.

Calico Rock picked up two wins, as they hosted Izard County for three basketball games.
The Lady Pirates took the senior girls’ game 45-17 over the Lady Cougars. Ava Lewis led Izard County with 16 points.
Calico Rock was also able to take the senior boys’ contest. The Pirates topped Izard County by a final of 45-38.
Calico Rock’s only loss was in the junior girls’ game, as they fell to Izard County 60-13. The Junior Lady Cougars were led by Quinn Johnson with 18 points and Breyona Fortney with 14 points.

Gainesville’s boys picked up a win on their home floor. The Bulldogs beat up on Conway 65-38.
