Mountain Home High School’s (MHHS) annual “Empty Bowls to Feed the Hungry” soup dinner will take place Thursday evening from 4 to 6 in the cafeteria.

The event is put on through a collaboration among several student groups at the high school and raises funds for the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas.

Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased leading up to the event by emailing Lawrence at clawrence@mhbombers.com or her colleague Beth Ivens at bivens@mhbombers.com. Students involved in the art club, student council, National Honor Society, or FCCLA will also have tickets available to purchase.

Art teacher and Health and Human Services Academy leader, Christy Lawrence, says, “From the art students who have created ceramic bowls to donate, to the food production students who prepare the delicious soups, to the clubs that work diligently to sell tickets, a great number of talented students are involved in this project.”

Patrons may choose between three soups served in a to-go container: potato soup with sausage, potato soup without sausage, or chicken noodle soup. The first 150 ticket holders will also receive a ceramic bowl made by MHHS art students.

Lawrence notes additional student-made art pieces will be on display for sale during the event.

Patrons may park in the cafeteria lot behind the high school gymnasium off Bucher Drive.

Lawrence says, “This is a tremendous opportunity for the students of Mountain Home High School Career Academies to be involved in a fundraiser that supports their community and shows compassion to their neighbors. For every dollar our students raise, the Food Bank can provide seven meals to the families in our area. Our school family is grateful for the continued support of our community which is the key to the success of this event.”
