Paul Sugg has been elected to the Calico Rock Community Foundation’s board of trustees. Sugg was born in Buffalo, New York, and graduated from Great Lakes Christian High School in Texas. He taught science in Texas, where he became a science specialist and administrator with the Dallas Independent School District. Sugg earned his doctorate in education at Texas A & M University in Commerce, Texas.
Sugg and his wife, Judy, retired to Calico Rock several years ago. His love of science, especially astronomy, influenced his construction of an observatory at their home. He says he has always been impressed with the beautiful night sky, especially in Calico Rock. Foundation officials say Sugg has been a driving force in upgrading and improving the science center at the Calico Rock Museum.
The Suggs fell in love with Calico Rock. They attend the Calico Rock Church of Christ. Paul Sugg loves watching high school basketball games and teaching local students science. He says he loves the way the Calico Rock Museum is preserving the area’s past and teaching local students they can reach for the stars.
The Calico Rock Community Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) tax exempt organization that operates and supports the Calico Rock Museum & Visitor Center, promotes local businesses through the Main Street Calico Rock program and works closely with the city of Calico Rock.
