Baxter County Treasurer Jenay Mize has announced she will be seeking reelection. First elected in 2012, Mize is serving her fourth term in office. Prior to that, she served for 16 years as the treasurer of Norfork School District and 10 years as an accountant for the Baxter Bulletin. She has been a member of Arkansas County Treasurer’s Association Continuing Education Board since 2018.
Since first taking office in 2013, Mize has been proactive in implementing and fully utilizing technology in her office. She has taken steps to improve transparency in how the county’s funds are managed and works closely with other county elected officials for the benefit of the entire County.
She says, “There are so many pieces of County Government that need to work together as a team to get things accomplished.” She describes county government as an ever-changing world, referencing the many new laws passed by the state legislature every two years and the requirements of staying abreast of new state and federal laws and rules and their impact on county government.
Mize says it is truly an honor to serve the citizens of Baxter County as their treasurer. She and her husband reside south of Mountain Home.
