Thursday looks to be a wild one when it comes to weather in the Twin Lakes Area. All modes of weather, including thunderstorms and wintery precipitation, are possible as a powerful cold front makes its way through the region.

A winter weather advisory and a flood watch are in effect for southern Missouri. No watches or advisories are in effect for northern Arkansas, but there is a slight chance of severe thunderstorms.

Megan Terry is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Springfield. She says most of the area will see rain this morning, then the front begins pushing through during the late morning or early afternoon hours dropping the temperature from the 50s and 60s into the 30s very quickly.

The winter weather advisory for southern Missouri runs from 11 Thursday morning until 9 Thursday night. The flood watch is in effect until 6 Thursday evening.

The Storm Prediction Center has most of the area in the slight category as far as chances of severe thunderstorms ahead of the front. While the chances of a tornado are very low, some storms may produce winds up to 60 mph and hail up to quarter size. There is a greater chance of severe weather in eastern Arkansas.

Thursday will be windy as well, with non-thunderstorm winds gusting up to 35 mph.
