Two people have been arrested in Stone County on drug-related charges after the driver of a vehicle twice waived over a deputy asking for help.
According to the probable cause affidavit, 47-year-old Norman Eugene Lasecki and 49-year-old Stacy Ann Lasecki have been charged with a felony count of possession of a controlled substance, Schedule I, II, and a misdemeanor of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The incident leading to their arrests unfolded on the evening of Feb. 10, when a Stone County deputy was conducting stationary patrol at the junctions of State Highways 5 and 9.
The deputy reported a vehicle driven by Norman Lasecki stopped directly in front of the headlights of his patrol unit and pulled over on the shoulder of the highway.
When the deputy exited his vehicle to check on the welfare of the occupants of the stopped SUV, he observed the driver, later identified as Norman Lasecki, waving his arms for the officer to come to his vehicle.
Lasecki reportedly told the deputy his vehicle needed fuel to allow him and his passenger to get home to Norfork. The report noted the couple is from Flippin.
The deputy advised the closest location for fuel was in Mountain View. Lasecki said he was confused and lost and asked the deputy to escort them to the gas station.
At the gas station, Lasecki once again waved over the deputy and told him he did not have any money for the gas.
The deputy reported observing the pair exhibiting behaviors consistent with being under the influence of a controlled substance.
The pair reportedly consented to a search of their vehicle. With a second deputy arriving on the scene, the search was conducted leading to the discovery of a glass methamphetamine smoking device in the glove box. Inside Stacy Lasecki’s purse a mixture was found field testing positive for meth. A small baggie of a white powdery substance field testing positive for meth was reportedly located in Norman Lasecki’s wallet.
Bonds were the two were set at $2,500 each.
