
The Mountain Home Christian Academy varsity boys’ basketball team had a rough night in the semifinals of the HCAA Class 2A State Tournament Friday in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The Eagles were edged out 58-55 by Wright Christian Academy from Tulsa. Gabe Spray led Mountain Home Christian with 24 points, and Trenton Cox and Gideon Spray added 10 each.
The championships of the 2A-1 District Tournament were decided at Flippin. A 3-pointer by the host Lady Bobcats beat the buzzer and pushed them past Yellville-Summit 39-38. The boys’ game ended with Cotter falling to Eureka Springs 42-38.
The semifinals of the 1A-2 District Tournament were held at Shirley.
Norfork’s girls were able to advance to the title game. The top-seeded Lady Panthers defeated Viola 59-40.
Norfork’s next opponent will be Greers Ferry West Side. Rural Special lost to the Lady Eagles by a final of 58-42.
The Calico Rock boys ended up falling to Izard County 56-50 in overtime. The Cougars were led by Gunner Gleghorn with 18 points, and Denton Reiley chipped in 12. Izard County improves to 21-11 on the year.
Western Grove’s girls advanced to the championship game of the 1A-1 East District Tournament on their home floor. The Lady Bears topped Jasper 67-51.
Western Grove’s final opponent in the tournament will be Kingston. Omaha fell to the top-seeded Lady Yellowjackets 48-33.
Lead Hill came up short on the boys’ side. The Tigers lost to Jasper by a score of 62-45.
The Mammoth Spring boys were eliminated from the semifinals of the 1A-3 District Tournament at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn with a 51-46 loss to Ridgefield Christian. Gavin Boddie was the Bears’ top scorer with 16 points, and Brayden Cray had 12. Mammoth Spring falls to 18-15 on the season.
Bergman’s girls were crowned the champions of the 3A-District Tournament in front of the home crowd. The Lady Panthers beat Valley Springs 75-52.
Harrison had mixed results in the semifinals of the 4A-1 District Tournament at Pea Ridge. The Lady Goblins squeaked by Gentry 37-36. Harrison did not fare as well on the boys’ side, as they fell to Berryville 67-49.
