
The 1A-2 District Tournament came to an end Saturday in Shirley.
Norfork captured the girls’ championship by beating Greers Ferry West Side 57-39. Liza Shaddy led the Lady Panthers with 14 points and 13 rebounds, Keely Blanchard scored 11 points, Ashlyn Estes added 10 points, and Jordan Rasmussen grabbed 10 rebounds. Norfork improves to 30-7 on the season.
In the boys’ game, Izard County fell to West Side 46-40. The Cougars were led by Gunner Gleghorn with 18 points, and Denton Reiley chipped in 15. Izard County drops to 21-12 on the year.
Western Grove had mixed results, as they hosted the title games of the 1A-1 East District Tournament. The Bears took the boys’ game over Jasper 59-41. Western Grove fell to Kingston 57-52 in the girls’ contest.
Mammoth Spring’s girls were crowned champions of the 1A-3 District Tournament at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. The Lady Bears pounded the host Lady Screamin’ Eagles 63-37.
Both of Melbourne’s teams left Salem with the championship trophies from the 2A-2 District Tournament. The Lady Bearkatz began by topping Tuckerman 47-37. The Melbourne boys followed with a 60-42 victory over Sloan-Hendrix.
Mountain View’s girls fell short of the title from the 3A-2 District Tournament at Riverview High School in Searcy. Mountain View lost 54-36 to another group of Lady Yellowjackets from Clinton.
Bergman’s boys finished as runners-up of the 3A-1 District Tournament at Elkins. The Panthers lost to host Elks 74-52.
Harrison split its final games in the 4A-1 District Tournament at Pea Ridge. The Lady Goblins fell to Farmington in the championship game 79-59. The Harrison boys finished third by routing Shiloh Christian 77-46.
