31 local basketball teams advance to regionals

The Twin Lakes Area will be represented by 31 area basketball teams during this week’s regional tournaments.

Five local teams will compete in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Eureka Springs. In girls’ action, Flippin and Lavaca will tip off Wednesday at 4, Cotter meets Mountainburg Thursday at 4, and Yellville-Summit faces Acorn Thursday at 7. On the boys’ side, Flippin takes on Acorn Thursday at 5:30, and Cotter plays Mountainburg Thursday at 8:30.

Seven area teams will take part in the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. On the girls’ bracket, Norfork and Marked Tree get underway Wednesday at 4, Viola will be paired with Mammoth Spring Wednesday at 7, and Rural Special goes up against the host Lady Screamin’ Eagles Thursday at 4. In Thursday’s boys’ games, Calico Rock will be matched up with Ridgefield Christian at 5:30, and Izard County and Mammoth Spring have the 8:30 contest.

Seven area teams will be at County Line High School in Branch for the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament. On the girls’ side, Omaha and the host Lady Indians tip off Wednesday at 4, Western Grove meets St. Paul Thursday at 4, and Jasper faces Mulberry Thursday at 4. On the boys’ bracket, Omaha plays County Line Wednesday at 5:30, Western Grove will be paired with Mulberry Wednesday at 8:30, Jasper goes up against Ozark Catholic Thursday at 5:30, and Lead Hill will be matched up with the New School Thursday at 8:30.

Five area teams will compete in the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at White County Central High School in Providence. In the girls’ games, Melbourne and Conway Christian get started Wednesday at 4, and Salem meets Hector Thursday at 4. In boys’ action, Melbourne faces Bigelow Wednesday at 5:30, Salem takes on Maumelle Charter Wednesday at 8:30, and Marshall plays Sloan-Hendrix Thursday at 8:30.

The Mountain View girls will be in Rose Bud Thursday for the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament. The Lady Yellowjackets will be paired with Corning at 4.

Four area teams will take part in the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at Booneville. In the girls’ games, Bergman goes up against Cedarville Wednesday at 7, and Valley Springs will be matched up with Charleston Thursday at 4. In Thursday’s boys’ action, Bergman meets Waldron at 5:30, and Valley Springs faces Paris at 8:30.

Both Harrison teams head to Farmington Thursday for the Class 4A North Regional Tournament. The Lady Goblins take on Dardanelle at 4, and Harrison’s boys play Morrilton at 8:30.
