High school basketball makes up much of the local Monday schedule, as tournament play continues.
Four area teams will compete in the semifinals of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Eureka Springs. On the girls’ side, Cotter and Flippin tip off at 4, and Yellville-Summit meets Mansfield at 7. Cotter’s boys face Lavaca at 8:30.
Five area teams will take part in the semifinals of the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament at Hillcrest Elementary School in Lynn. On the girls’ bracket, Norfork and Rural Special get underway at 4 in a rematch of last year’s state championship game, and Mammoth Spring takes on Greers Ferry West Side. In the boys’ games, Calico Rock plays West Side at 5:30, and Izard County will be paired with Marked Tree at 8:30.
Three area teams are among the semifinalists in the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament at County Line High School in Branch. In girls’ action, Western Grove meets the host Lady Indians at 4, and Jasper faces Kingston at 7. The Western Grove boys take on the New School at 8:30.
Four area teams will be in the semifinals of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at White County Central High School in Providence. The girls’ game between Salem and Melbourne tips off at 4. On the boys’ side, Melbourne plays St. Joseph from Conway at 5:30, and Marshall will be matched up with Maumelle Charter at 8:30.
Mountain View’s girls will have the first semifinal of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at Rose Bud. The Lady Yellowjackets will go up against Pangburn at 4.
Two area girls’ teams will square off for the title of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at Booneville. Bergman and Valley Springs are scheduled for 7.
Both of Harrison’s teams will compete for third place in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Farmington. The Lady Goblins face Gentry at 4, and the Harrison boys take on Shiloh Christian at 5:30.
In addition, district play continues for the larger schools in Missouri.
West Plains’ boys return to Marshfield for the semifinals of the Class 5, District 5 Tournament. The Zizzers play Rolla at 7:30.
Two area boys’ teams will face each other in the opening round of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at Mountain Grove. Hollister and Forsyth get started at 5.
