A man charged with the rape and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to those charges during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Monday.

Thirty-three-year-old David Schrand Jr. was booked into the Baxter County jail July 11, after being brought from the White County Detention Center in Searcy.

He has been an inmate since that time.

The court has sealed the probable cause affidavit containing information on what transpired leading to the charges.

Schrand has an extensive record in White County, going back to when he was 16 years old and picked up a traffic ticket for having no driver’s license.

According to court records, Schrand has had 41 cases opened against him through the years, mostly in White County and mainly for misdemeanor traffic violations.

However, he has also been charged with more serious crimes, including aggravated assault, terroristic threatening, battery, tampering with physical evidence, fleeing and criminal mischief, according to electronic court records.

Affidavits seeking protective orders against Schrand have been filed. They outline concerns about three children who had at one point lived in the same house with him.

According to records that are open to the public, Schrand, his girlfriend and the children shared a residence in rural Baxter County.

In other records, Schrand is referred to as the woman’s ex-boyfriend.
