Thursday baseball and softball results: Norfork baseball wins match up of 1A powers

It was a busy Thursday for high school baseball and softball in the area.

In baseball action:
-In a match up of Class 1A powerhouses, Norfork was a 6-3 winner over Izard County to improve to 13-3. For the Cougars, who fall to 11-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play, Gunner Gleghorn had three hits and an RBI, Landon McBride had two hits and drove in a run. Denton Reiley worked 4 1/3 innings of relief on the hill, allowing four hits, no earned runs and striking out six.
-Bakersfield was an 8-2 winner over Summersville to improve to 4-3.
-Salem lost at Highland 8-4. The Greyhounds are now 8-6 on the season.
-Dora shut out Koshkonong 10-0 to up their record to 2-2.
-Melbourne edged past White County Central 5-4 to push their record to 10-4.
-Bergman was a 10-4 winner over Berryville. The Panthers improve to 14-5.

In softball results:
-Cotter blew past Bergman 19-4 to improve to 3-6.
-Gainesville lost to Alton 12-4.
-Calico Rock fell to Greers Ferry West Side 3-1. The Lady Pirates are now 7-6.
-Melbourne topped Salem 9-4. The Lady Bearkatz improve to 9-3 while the Lady Greyhounds fall to 9-6.
-Omaha was a 13-3 winner over Lead Hill.
-Mammoth Spring split a double header with Armorel. Armorel took the first game 3-2 with the Lady Bears claiming the second game 2-1.
